The curator's daughter screams, “she’ biting the apple, Mommy” <-- THIS is why I do what I do. Passion Projects with Purpose.
i was thrilled to be asked by @listentoizzychurch @marten.kayle w/ @worldtradegallery to create a stand alone installation to be showcased on the 69th floor of Tower 4 as part of a larger installation with some of Street Art's biggest and brightest. This install lasted for months at what are now Spotify’s 11 floors of offices.

At first I thought about projection/video work as I work with animation and wanted to showcase/flex a little . The thought quickly turned to early film making and the mechanics involved with the Praxinoscope. Most of the the pieces I saw were 12” miniatures, cheap and made of plastic. Knowing that I wanted it large enough for folks to interact with, I set upon building this 38” version from scratch.
Using flex plywood, mirrors bearings , paint print out etc with plans I created w/ a free online 3D program. The images are of Dorothy taking a bite out of the apple, referencing what was about to happen in the installation ;) . I also include a second animation strip which features the 12 frame animated sequence of Sallie Gardener at the Gallop, “the world”s first motion picture.” (1878) Viewers could interchange the two animation strips and spin, creating the motion effect that can be viewed from all sides.
The bearings came from a child’s bike wheel I found on the street, attached to an ikea coat rack with a stool painted black as the base. As the cylinder rotates, so do the 12 mirrors, which, when reflecting the 12 “ frames” creates the animated illusion.  The outside is hand painted with One Shot in my DNA/tribal style I’d been working in for about 8 years at the time. This is the first piece that fuses the iconic imagery with technology and is one of my favorite creations to date as it challenged a lot of my skills and requiring me to learn and grow as an Artist.
